Our practices

International works

We are frequently involved in advisory and litigious work in other jurisdictions, particularly in other common law countries in the Commonwealth.

Members of Chambers have appeared in appeals to the Privy Council and have appeared or advised in relation to disputes in the Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, Brunei, the Cayman Islands, the Channel Islands, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Grenada, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Jordan, Malaysia (including Sabah and Sarawak), Mauritius, Northern Ireland, the Seychelles, Singapore, Scotland and the Ukraine.

We understand the flexibility required to advise in jurisdictions with different procedural rules, such as the many jurisdictions which still use the 1999 Supreme Court Practice, the need to absorb legislative changes effected by ordinance, and the difference between conveyancing practices, particularly where the Torrens system applies. In 2005 a team from Chambers conducted a seminar in the Cayman Islands on the law relating to hurricane damage. Several members of chambers are members of the Commonwealth Lawyers’ Association.

We have expertise in international arbitrations, including those administered by such organisations as the ICC.
